INNOVATIVE. HISTORIC. COMPLEX.

2024 EDITION
KANSAS CITY WHISKEY SOLERA RESERVE
ABV: 50% | PROOF: 100 | FORMAT: 750ml | LIMITED EDITION
Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve is our most limited-edition and coveted whiskey, the crown jewel in our whiskey portfolio. The individual whiskeys that make up our Kansas City Whiskey blend (Straight Bourbon, Straight Rye, and Light Corn whiskey) are finished in extremely rare 500-liter Oloroso Sherry botas from the Williams & Humbert Solera Especial. We utilize the Solera method of fractional blending which is a continual process of removing a portion of the whiskey from each barrel, then topping it off with another batch, over many years. This “never-ending barrel” approach creates a unique yet consistent mixture of ages. Having expanded our solera to ten casks, each between 50-100 years old, our unique process adds layers of flavor and complexity unlike any whiskey you’ve ever experienced.

OUR PROCESS
Every year, a group of highly trained tasting experts come together to create our annual Monogram Whiskey blend. First, samples are pulled from each of the 10 oloroso sherry botas in our Solera. Our Tasting Panel, consisting of Bar 5-Day trained industry experts alongside Master Distiller, Nathan Perry and Co-Founder, Ryan Maybee, taste each individual barrel separately to understand how that whisky may contribute to the final blend. After tasting the individual barrels, the panel begins to create multiple blends using different percentages from each barrel, with some barrels not getting used at all that year. The panel goes through multiple rounds of tasting blends before the final blend is approved and packaged.

HISTORY OF MONOGRAM
Prior to Prohibition, we, like many other distilleries, used the “Monogram” moniker for our most prized whiskey offerings, similar to words like “reserve” today. Today our Monogram Whiskey is in fact our rarest, most unique offering. The bottle and label design of today’s Monogram Whiskey closely mimics that of our original, Pre-Prohibition bottlings.

A HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP
Our partnership with Williams and Humbert, a historic sherry producer in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, began as we were restarting our distillery in 2014 when we created Kansas City Whiskey. To create a truly unique blend that was true to the historically documented and significant pre-Prohibition practice of adding Sherry to American Whiskey, we incorporated a trace amount of 15 year old Oloroso Sherry from Williams and Humbert, a nod to the historic process of "rectifying". Sherry is legally only permitted to be exported in its final, bottled form. As you can imagine, we were having to purchase a lot of bottled sherry to make our Kansas City Whiskey. Because of the exceptional reputation our distillery and our whiskey garnered over the years, in 2017 we received permission from the Spanish government to allow us to import Sherry wine in bulk, making us the first Distillery in the United States to be able to do so.
