This is a cocktail family new to the modern era; ushered in by NYC bartender Sam Ross. Although the foundation of this cocktail is lime, mint, and cucumber, you can add in your choice of base spirit for a refreshing and versatile treat.
• 2 oz Midwestern Dry Gin or Premium Wheat Vodka
• 1 oz fresh lime juice
• ¾ oz simple syrup*
• 3 cucumber wheels
• 6-7 mint leaves
Combine all ingredients into a shaker. Briefly muddled cucumber and mint slightly and shake with ice. Strain into a chilled rocks glass and garnish with a sprig of mint threaded through a cucumber wheel.
*Combine equal parts granulated sugar and water. Using light heat in a medium-sized saucepan, stir until completely incorporated. Cool and store in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
